The "Chautauqua" has been around since the mid 1970's. The original idea behind Chautauqua was to present a series of short courses for instructors who teach at two and four year institutions in order to give them some new information about topics they found of interest. The hope is that with this material they could extend their own lecture notes, give new examples to their courses, or perhaps give them a head start to move into new subject areas. For almost all of the years, the National Science Foundation has funded Chautauqua. That funding has run out.
Without the constraints of the NSF rules, Chautauqua is free to broaden the people who may attend these very interesting courses. We now welcome all teachers, or those who have interest in education, to our courses. We now present our classes in classroom formats and some courses via the internet. With these courses you do not need to attend a special location for a few days to get the information, but can do it over a period of 10 days from your home or other location with internet access
